I've just sorted my room out and have around 200 DVDs up there. Some have never been opened, some are quite crap (Zombie Strippers anyone?).

I've not watched any of them for at least 18 months as 95% of my viewing is via Netflix or Prime.

Whats the best way to get rid of them? eBay seems too much hard work. Are these Music Magpie or similar worth doing? I'm not expecting a lot for them, but be nice to clear up some space.

If this isn't in the right place could a mod move it please smile.

Don't Facebook have a marketplace type thing now? My Mrs is selling a few bit of old stuff on there,

I'm going to get her to flog mine on there, or attempt to, soon.. If that don't work i think charity shop and they can have them,

How easy is music magpie etc?

With the big take up of streaming I'd doubt there's a big market for DVD's. How about donating them to a charity shop?

Take DVD's, mark them up 50p each, bring home 98% of them...

I can't be arsed with the hassle of selling one at a time ha.

I was thinking of a car boot...a friend was doing a few car boots and was going to see if I could pop along with her. Annoyingly we've had a bit of a falling out so might leave it a bit ha.

Charity shop is looking like a good bet...got a load of clothes to take as well. Is it just a case of turning up and leaving them?

Put them on ebay as a job lot for a higher price than you'd get from musicmagpie etc (which is pennies per dvd).

Sold a load of my box sets and DVDs to music magpie last year. Download the app, scan the bar codes and see what they'll give you. Drop them off at your local news agent and you're done. No complaints personally.

Also worth checking computer exchange as they will sometimes give more and are on the high street. Can can take a while (they have to scan everything etc) though.

Do you have a CEX near you? I did the same a few years ago and had around 60 DVDs I wanted rid of, I just took them into the store and they spent a while checking / scanning them before giving me something like £40 for them. Not much money but was easy to get rid of them that way.

+1 for CEX, simply walk in, chuck the lot on the counter and then they'll give you some ££ for them, job jobbed.

Yep I did this recently, had a major de-clutter, dumped a box full off at CEX and got about £70, some where 10p, but some box sets where £5-£10 and all done in a few minutes. The ones these didn't want I gave to charity.

We had about 350-400 dvds and same situation, couldn't be bothered with the hassle of eBay or a car boot etc... and ended up giving them to charity

They made just over £800 from them and asked if we wanted the proceeds, which was £640 after they took 20% for their costs

We didn't, they made the full amount (to be honest I was shocked they contacted us with that sort of offer!)

I just scanned a few of my DVD's through the Magpie app. They seem to pay about 20p per DVD. They were all decent Hollywood films.

For that return it's not worth it. I'd rather give them to charity and hope they can make a few quid more for a good cause.

If it were me i.e extremely lazy and just wanting to clear the space as quickly as possible - I would take them to a charity shop that take DVDs and leave it at that. The effort involved in selling them individually just wouldn't be worth what you get - and if you sell in bulk for £25-30 it's a pretty poor return so the charity would do a lot better from it than you would.

+1

I can't remember the last time I watched a DVD so I decided to have a clear out of them all a few weeks ago.

Rather than piss about wasting my time trying to get £20 for 200 or so DVD's, I simply took them to a charity shop, parked outside, carried them in and they were very happy to receive them.

Everyone's happy at that.
