I'm not one to often come to this part of pistonheads but I'm a regular gym goer (5days a week).

I started boxing at uni and always struggled with the skipping but I enjoyed it, recently, I decided to start doing 15 min as my workout warm up. I've become much much better in a short space of time and enjoy it more than ever.

I've tried a few different cheap ropes but wanted something a little higher quality and more durable, I prefer the cheaper nylon ropes as they're a little heavier and hurt my upper body a bit more (using it for warm up before weight training this seemed good) but they broke too quickly.

I've decided to order a crossrope set, they should be arriving this week sometime, for what is effectively a posh kids toy (how most the poeple at my gym and my family see skipping) it was bloody expensive. If anyone on ph is interested I'll let you know what it's like after a few weeks, I'm not the best skipper in the world but I really enjoy it.

If anyone is interested is these let me know and I'll pass on my thoughts, I've never used a posh rope before but I've used a few speed ropes (too fast and too light for my preference) and a few cheap nylon ropes (like then but they're too fragile).

If noone here likes skipping I won't waste your time. As I said I'm not often on this part of ph (I lurk in the, the lounge and scale models and occasionally post in video games).

Should have just got a muay thai skipping rope- thick, heavy and gives a really good work out. Cheap too.

I've just done me first session using them. I have 5 different ropes (1/4lb, 3/4lb, 1lb, 1.5lb and 3lb) I did my 15min warm up as the following circuit
1 min skipping, 1min ab exercise, 1min skipping at next weight up etc.

After back session it was the same but for 30min and once I got to the heavy weight I started to work back down.

The ropes feel really high quality, the handles are nice and smooth.

Using the 3/4lb ropes upwards and you can REALLY feel the weight, I struggled to maintain 20s with the 3lb, it was savage.

Mixing up the weight added a lot of variety to the workout and I could feel more parts being worked with each heavier weight.

Honestly, I think they're over priced, especially postage. But if you could get say the 1/4lb and the 1lb ropes they would make a great set to mix up a difficult workout that can stress your upper body aswell as build endurance.

I don't think it'll be possible to bulk using these but I'm expecting them to really make a difference leaning up.

If I've missed anything anyone wanted to know just ask.

I think you missed a link to your purchases. smile would be interested to see what you're using. I use a speed rope but now interested in trying a heavier weighted version.

I have quite a few ropes. Love my speed rope. Great for speedy footwork stuff. I've also got a weighted Everlast bd thing with 1lb weights in the handles. A few minutes of that and my shoulders are done.

Ah, love that pain smile

Small update. I've now got myself into a routine using these as a warm-up (a savage warm up) and I really really like them. I did however have a shock the other day. An import duty invoice from fed ex for £50. Two weeks after I have received and opened the ropes so I don't have much choice but to pay. It's a shame as they where already a little to expensive and I do want the other 2 ropes.

Just a warning to all.
