Still working on my Tasmin fhc, I have got some new brake calipers which I fitted tonight, they look so good and with almost everything else done I'm looking forward to driving it soon!
However, I went to start the engine ( just because I wanted to) and it's not working now, I done all the electrical bits on it and had it running many times, I had signed off the electrical jobs!
The car has a 'GT' Immobliser which you put a fob up to which then allows the engine etc to work, what I'm now finding is I put the fob up to the dash, the light on the immobiliser goes out ( as always before) then I go to start it and everything goes off! All the dash etc, if I turn the ignition off then back on the dash comes back to life, go to start it and it all goes dead again!

I'm thinking something in the immobiliser has gone wrong.

Any ideas before I take it to bits ( or send it to the scrap yard) ?

Ps battery voltage 12.8v

Chuck out the immobiliser. One less thing to go wrong and confuse the issue.

I'm not sure that is the imboliser after having a look at it just now.

I put the battery on charge last night, went to start it just now and I'm getting a buzz from the starter relay, tried changing that with another one and same thing.

Checked voltage at the starter, got 12v there, bit unsure how the starter circuit works, anyone got a diagram I could look at or any advise ?

Cheers all

When you start cranking, what does the battery voltage dip to?

Sounds to me like the battery might be low on charge, leave it on charge for 24-48h on trickle.

Also check the earth strap is still done up at both ends!

Have a look at the big multi-pin connector under the dash. This one...

Check all the connections are actually connected. This was a disaster area on mine; a typical TVR electrical lash up.
