Looking for suggestions on a bike carrier for a Zafira B. Ideally to carry 3 full size MTB with younger boys bike in the boot. No tow bar fitted to the car and planning to change car next year. I have read some reviews on high top carriers but all become worrying and potentially dangerous to use! Also looked at the idea of a roof bars + carriers but not sure on A) Overall high and B) getting 3 adult MTB up there!
Recently fitted some Thule 591's to the roof of my car. Work brilliantly. Was really restricted due to the frame design of my bikes and the Thule is the only unit that would accommodate them. Once locked in they wobble a little bit, but havent had any concerns over stability when driving even at 80mph+
Lifting the bikes onto the rack isn't an issue on my V70. Your Zafira may be a little taller though. Also depends on how heavy your bikes are, how strong you are. You should also check the loading your bars can take. 3 bikes maybe to much (depends on what they are / weight). If I was carrying 3 bikes I would have 2 facing forward and one facing backwards so you dont have issues with handlebars.

I have a roof mounted carrier on my wife's Zafira B. I bought some cheap Summit bars and a couple of Halfords bike carriers for it. The first couple of times it took two blokes to lift them up and a stool to stand on. It's all about the technique though and standing either in the rear door on the sill or on top of the car wheel.
It's pretty solid at motorway speeds too.
