A sobering thought.

Riding my bike on my way to work this evening I was following a small 4x4,when we came onto a straight section of road. There was no oncoming traffic. I was about to nip past but decided not to because we were getting near my turnoff and I might have held up the car I just passed if the junction was busy. At that moment a car shot out from a driveway on the left in front of the 4x4 and went right so it was oncoming.
Phew! if I had made the overtake manoeuvre I would have ploughed right into it broadside.
A split second life or death decision. I’m glad I’m still around. But feeling a little uncomfortable thinking about it.
