Just stripped dashboard and applied carbon wrap vinyl together with a new hole for oil temp gauge (for now)

For the positive, earth and illumination wiring, can I tap into the existing wires that supply the same to another gauge eg Water gauge?

Yes no problem piggy backing of one of the other gauges, just make sure they are +ve / -ve and not the signal feed

Agreed, I've just done this, piggy-back is the way to go. The original gauges may be two wire systems, the new oil temperature gauges are three wire but it's still simple, +ve & -ve supply plus the signal wire and lamp, I took the -ve from the lamp feed.

Thanks Gents!

Noticed the bulb light on new gauge has just one spade connector. Would it get it's negative route through negative on back of gauge?

(Feels like a daft question!)

-ve for the bulb comes through the body of the bulb holder fronm the gauge case, the +ve goes to the spade terminal, so no need to run a seperate -ve to the bulb
