Mountain bike options - any better choices?

I have a budget of around 500 pound and want a beginner mountain bike. Not going to be tackling anything heavy, just some casual rides, help build fitness and have some fun.

The bike I'm looking at is a VooDoo Hoodoo. Will be paying 400 for it. Seems like a lot of bike for the money. With a few minor upgrades it will be just what I need to get me going.

Any other suggestions?

I am looking at this, dont know enough about them to tell which is best, the one you aare looking at or this one! but reviews seem to be good.
