I have a couple of businesses doing online retail. Each of them has a 'contact us' form, which sends us an email. We get a lot of emails (half a dozen each day) from people who claim that they can improve our ranking on Google, or make our search terms more effective and so on.

I'm sure I'm not alone in getting these. Has anyone else noticed that every single one of them (genuinely, 100%) come from an @gmail.com email address?

Do they really expect me to take them seriously? Are they teenagers, just starting out? Is it an elaborate email address harvest? Or are they as bad at their job as I am at mine?

My contact forms look for the tell-tale SEO-spam phrases, check the IP address location and just reply

How's the weather in Bangalore today, "George"?

None of their crap reaches me

I'm a bit more backward than that. They all go into spam, but I empty the folder now and again. It's not that they get through, it's just that whilst claiming to be SEO experts, none of them even have their own domain.
