Now Salt isn't bad for you.
Discussion
Seems much of the evidence is more than a little slanted due to amongst other things a researcher breeding salt hyper sensitive Rats?

I haven't read the article, stuff like this tends to annoy me.
Salt like many other "bad" things is necessary, just in moderation. I have a friend who was horrified when they saw me using (a little) seasoning while cooking, you'd have thought I was trying to murder her 1st born.
People are stupid.

It's not even in "moderation" unless you are a rat designed to react to the stuff. The healthy Mediterranean diet for example is quite high in salt and the Korean diet is very high. neither appear to effect people the way the "low salt" faction expect them to.Salt like many other "bad" things is necessary, just in moderation. What is becoming clear to science is that there are 7 billion people in the world, and each one of us has 10-70 trillion cells, and not everyone reacts to food, drink or meds in the same way. For example, some people are allergic to Summer pollen, while others are completely unaffected. In the case of salt, it looks like x% of people are sodium-sensitive and y% are completely unaffected. Researchers just can't work out yet what those precise percentages are. That is what causes the conflicting reports and ongoing uncertainty.

The scientific community is very disappointing these days.
It is the media screaming it all over the world, exaggerating it, misquoting things, not the actually scientists.,Then nothing happens.

With regards salt, I was chatting to a colleague who ran the MDS - he had to take in a LOT of a salt to keep him going, that would have some people thinking he was trying to commit suicide (which is what I thought of him running the MDS).

We've been comprehensively lied to about food for decades. Still are. No truth in the advertising funded media at all.
Sugar is pretty evil. And our modern diet of mostly glucose isn't good for us. But it is very profitable for some, so everything else on earth gets the blame.

^this, like in so much theres too much of this one rule must fit all nonsense going on, my mrs is coeliac and dairy intolerant and if she doesnt eat by 10am and every few hours she'll be "hangry", I can eat anything, or indeed nothing all day and not notice. We have vastly differing dietary needs.Gassing Station | Health Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
