New live fixed cameras are proliferating in Shropshire, and my R.Angel is only picking a few up, despite them being live for 9 months now, with more on the way!

Surprising response from R.A. is that one of their guys will physically survey the locations....!

They haven't yet responded to my obvious question a few weeks ago, that why is this necessary as they claim to have access to 'Police, Local Authority and Ministry of Transport designated danger spots including accident blackspots and speed camera locations'? I also asked whether the problem is that some Authorities aren't publishing new site details? (but sites have been all over local press, in advance) Altogether not much use if we still have to watch carefully all the time for the odd missed camera!

Anyone else found missed cameras?

I have had my unit looking for mobile units (motorway roadworks) that are no longer there because I haven't updated it for a couple of weeks. Once updated there is usually no problem.

It's not missed any cameras yet, but then I spend the bulk of my time in Scotland where they are currently less prevalent.

Glad you've not found problems Dougie. I update regularly but these fixed cameras are just not on their map

I think it is a good policy to have an employee of their's pysically see every camera etc before updating their database. I used to use Trafcam and felt thier database was hopeless as they would accept anything anyone told them! The number of trafficmaster cameras and motorway CCTV cameras showing as gatso's was huge and meant after a while I started ignoring the (very many!) warnings!

I do think that 9 months is far too long though and they should consider more staff if they can't get round them quick enough.

Agree with both points, but they also clearly sell them on the basis that the sites are reliable because of the databases they use, eg. (in R.A. manual)...'In the comprehensive Road Angel database are stored Police, Local Authority and Ministry of Transport designated danger spots, including accident blackspots and speed camera locations'

(....apart from the ones they haven't found yet..)
