Just over a week ago I managed to get my hands on my new weekend toy.

It's a 1985, Nissan Silvia with 68k miles. The last owner has owned it for 20 years and only driven it 5k in the last 10 years, keeping it serviced, MOTd and running it round the block.

He has had it in his garage, but decided now was a the time to give it up and through random chat at the gym, my dad managed to bag me a bargain.

From my research, there are only 6 manual versions from this year (the phase 1 version) left on the road. They hardly ever come up for sale as there is so few of them.

The car is mechanically great and is in good overall condition, with just the odd mark and some rust to the arches.

Anyway, here are some pictures. Feel free to leave comments around the value.

Haven't seen one of those for a while! Love the colour.

Whats the spec? I vaguely recall a 1.8 litre 16v turbo, something like 130bhp?
No - 130 bhp was the lukewarm Escort Turbo. laugh

The 1.8 litre Nissan had 150bhp IIRC, but the 200SX was more like 200bhp (so Cosworth territory) ! Great car OP. thumbup

Lovely cars.
Looks very tidy, just a bit of finishing.
I'm glad it hasn't fallen into the hands of the drifting (ugh) fraternity, as a lot of good classic rear drivers have ended up.

Not seen one for ages, please don't spoil it by modding it!

Typical Japanese eighties interior!

It's one of only 6 manual ones from this year on the road. Think they did a phase two version the next year. Of those 6, I imagine the majority are in not so good condition or have been modified.

I plan to keep it a whole, but not forever so at some point it will come up forsale. No idea on price, as there are not about to compare it to.

My idea retro car would be German, but picked this up for a price I just couldn't refuse.

Yeh I think they are about 130bhp the early ones like this. It drives amazing and the turbo is whistling all the time. Picks up pretty well for an old girl too.

These were the same poke as the Bluebird Turbo - 135bhp - they only used about half a bar of boost - also used this engine in the little Reliant Scimitar SST ( that really flew )

They also did a twin cam non turbo 2-litre that had a smidge more power ( about 143bhp ) and you could tell them by the large bonnet bulge.

Like the RS Turbo mentioned, you needed two changes to hit 60 so the stats weren't quite as good overall as some other coupes. Nicely made and this one looks in great nick

Back in the late 80s my form teacher for three years from the ages of ten to twelve (I was a VERY slow learner) had a silver one of these. And she smoked. She was the first perfect woman I ever knew. Ah, Patricia, where art thou now?
Not that a 'slow leaner'... smile

Love these! I had a few in my younger years along with a Bluebird ZX Turbo and a Nissan Cherry Turbo - that was a riot, great times! Back then having a boost gauge was so cool

It has the CA18ET non intercooled Turbo engine which is 135bhp

Not seen one on the roads for ages great find!

Yes, just looked up about B30 FAW - light blue one - but it died at the end of 2004 according to DVLA - 20 year innings I suppose

Lovely, had a S2 back in the day but unfortunately it was a bit wayward and not much feedback through the wheel. That plus a daft nineteen year old, innevitably it ended up on its roof :-(

So tonight I spent a quick half an hour cleaning the engine bay. Needs a lot more work, but already looks a lot better.

Before

After

Also took some pics of the underneath so you can see the condition.

As the sun was shining, I took her out for a drive and took a few pictures. The car is pretty dirty, but I think she still looks good.

Slowly falling in love with it, but need to be careful I don't clock up the miles too quickly.

Nice and not modified or messed about withsmile

I remember those - I was working at a Ford RS dealers with a Nissan dealer up the road, some of the sales guys still referred to these as Datsun's if the sale of a Ford was not going well....it used to frighten most customers!!

I'll keep it until someone makes me an offer I can't refuse, or offers a swap for something interesting and German like an old Porsche or E21 BM

Blast from the past thatsmile. Haven't seen one of these for Donkey years. A mate of mine had a Metalic Green 1.8 Turbo back when I had my chipped up S1 RS Turbo Escort back in the early 90's. We used to have a bit of fun around the local Brecon Beacons roads back then. His Silvia was pretty quick from what I can remember.
Lovely car and nice colour Op. Enjoy itthumbup...

That looks great.
I always wanted the DOHC non turbo version (with the bulge in the bonnet and more power) but have never seen one for many years.
