Got under beastie earlier today, first time since she was MOT'd 12 months ago, (hardly used the old girl... again..).. I thought I'd start a body off over winter 2015, but didn't, then 12 months later (around November last year) I decided it was time for the body off... but put it off again.... Had some great hoons this year already, but lying on my back this morning has revealed a degree of corrosion on the outriggers that I can no longer ignore.... So, we're going on a journey.... I have much planned for beastie's rebirth, but I don't expect to see her back on the road until Spring 2018
Have to say I'm very excited about it
Now where did I leave that LS catalogue

The big question Richard is, are you going to keep it?
As you have another barge to waft around in, I can see this being a protracted exercise !
If you do a body of you will end up with exactly the same car with a nice chassis and a few shiny nuts and bolts under the bodywork. Unless you're planning something else, it hardly seems worth it.
If it was just the outriggers, I would send it to a specialist to have them done in situ.
If you are going to fit a more powerful engine, that is another story!

As the "LP" suggests, not worth doing a full body off if your thinking of selling, there are alot of nice looking chimaera'a for sale at the moment, some with full BO refurbs, and with the prices they are asking for, they are either just breaking even or taking a loss?
So choice;Outriggers replace only, £1800 ball park figure, or sell up as a chassis needs refurb, and reduced sale price accordingly.

She was mint when I bought her, and rightly or wrongly I feel a responsibility to return her to that condition whilst in my ownership.....phazed 11.83 said:

Engine will stay, but with a few more mods... It needs a strip down too, for a number of reasons....Appreciate your views Peter

Saw that when Daz posted it up Iain, not my cup of tea really, the Tamora has never really done it for me. I have also never been one to partake of this 'willy waving' nonsense, and to be truthful I find it very immature and quite tiresome.. https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Planning on getting the rolling chassis (minus engine) over to Smiffy for final strip down, shot blast, coating, and rebuild with new bushes, brake pipes, etc etc.... Have a small leak on the gearbox input shaft so might get Matt to fix that... Need new dash, veneer is now proper flakey but not decided what dash covering to go with yet..... and new carpets definitely required.... New clutch is a given too.... V8D engine is now smoking well under WOT, and has since rebuild really.... Anthony was the first to comment on it when we went up to Peterborough a few years ago.... also has a lot of crank case pressure so needs investigating.... I'm good with 360-370bhp, but I'm looking for a minimum of 450 lbft of torque... not sure that's achievable without FI though.....

Anthony's a dab hand at this chasing around with trailers lark and I'd be talking to him, might save a few bob or give you even more info and you can never have enough of that.
Sad to hear about the lump hissing! Sure it's not those forged pistons never getting hot enough and filling the gap?
Rag the hell out of it,,, upto temp obviously, prolonged like on a TRACKDAY it might just go away and that engine can sing, hmm, if it's breathing maybe not

Thanks Anthony, very much appreciated... got beastie fired up today and shuffled her up the drive, major clean up, snowfoam, MOT next, then SORN when tax runs out at the end of September... then she gets stripped

Bout 22K miles Al, she's only done 53K from new.... it pretty much smoked from not long after the rebuild (Anthony commented on it a few years back) but it needs sorting now, we plastered the front of a Tuscan convertible a few months back (sorry Doug) so it's time.......Luck of the draw rather than dodgy faults but still

Here's a thing, once it's clean and new like with shiny chassis it's actually fairly easy to keep it all clean. Front wishbones etc, every now and then pull the wheels off, boiling detergent filled soapy water and sponge, all off and like new again in no time. It'll last and look good for years.
Because I polished everything off the car from engine bay it's still in pretty good nick, I honestly don't take more than 30 mins wiping it down and it stays good. Best thing I ever did from an aesthetics point of view, I really enjoy driving the car knowing it looks good under the bonnet
