Where have all the Police on the street suddenly come from?
I know why they've appeared; deterrent/reassurance, but is it all leave cancelled, or Police being pulled off other roles?
If so what's not being done that usually is?

All current investigations have been suspended indefinitely while all the cops walk the beat. Basically its open season for criminals now.

Combination of cancelled rest days, overtime offered, specialist officers walking the beat instead of usual roles, special constables being called in.

No criticism intended, was just curious as we hear all the time about numbers being cut to the bone.
Presumably not sustainable for very long then.

As said, days off cancelled, all shifts now 12 hours, total focus on visible patrols and minimal investigation work which will lead to future complaints / loss of time critical evidence I.e cctv, door to door, evidential warrants being executed.

Great to reassure the public but totally unsustainable for any length of time.
