Maybe someone can advise on these two engine connectors on a 92 4.0.
Pic 1 shows the ignition amplifier on the side of the distributor. There is an unused male spade connector. Would this be correct? Also, are these amplifiers a common Rover part or TVR spec specific?

Pic 2, driver side of air plenum. What is that white connector for, another redundant Land Rover item?

Many thanks.

That's an earth terminal for the ignition amp, I've run a cable from the spade to the earthing point immediately below the rear most injector on the driver's side - but then I'm a bit OCD.

Not used in the TVR application. Used as the pick up point for the LR fault indicator in the instrumentation binnacle.

Thanks for the information. I have looked at photos of other Griffiths in this area and don't appear to see any wires running from that spade. Did you earth yours as a 'belt and braces' measure? Do I need to earth mine too?

No. It earths by being bolted to the dizzy.
If you have reason to remove it or replace it you must make sure there is heat transfer paste on the back of it as they get hot and need to shed that heat into the dizzy (or on some cars a mounting plate). Overheating kills them.

Belt and braces. Since the ignition module is a switched earth device and double earthing is preferred on these cars I wired in the additional earth connection. On the later Griffs the module was mounted to a bracket on the driver side of the plenum in the vicinity of the coil to aid cooling. As said previously it's heat that kills them.
