Evening all...as a famous copper once used to introduce his show in the 60's. Showing my age eh?! But still young at heart!

Just a short intro....I'm a VAG nut. My first car was a 1981 silver 1600cc Mk1 Golf Gti. I was 17, on mam's policy. Loved it to death, have a recurring dream where I open a garage door to find it tucked away! After this I bought an Escort RS1600i, finished in black, 1983 A plate. Tremendous car, but loved by scrotes too! One night, there she was gone! She wasn't the same car after I had her fixed up so I sold her on. I then had a 1987 MK2 Golf Gti 16v...silver again. I lightly modded this with Corrado G60 BBS alloys, Boge sports suspension, Jetex exhaust mated with a Jetex air filter. I kept her for 4 years, and she was immaculate. Worth what now I wonder? The Mk1 was pretty much mint when I traded her in too......

The MK2 was traded in for a 1991 Corrado 16v... Guess what colour? Rhymes with Pillar. I arranged for the G60 alloys on my MK2 to be swapped to the Corrado. The Sebrings ended up on the Golf. I lowered this with a Boge kit and gave her the Jetex exhaust air filter treatment. She looked wicked, another car I wish I'd kept....

Lots of boring cars came and went whilst I raised a family....and a house in the country required 4x4s. So I've sampled Mk1 and MK2 Santa Fe's, a Kia Sorrento, Jeep Grand Cherokee and finally a 2003 Range Rover L322 HSE....my current daily driver.

She's a hefty old girl, hates short trips but adores leggy motorway runs. She's spoilt rotten, more so than the wife! The ride is sublime, but given my racey heritage I've longed for something more agile....and soon that itch will be scratched. On Saturday I pick up my run around.....

..... a Mk1 Octavia Vrs, 2003, FSH, 2 owners in great nick, but needing a good polish and interior clean. Silver haha. A return to VAG ownership. Can't wait. I'll post some pics when I pick her up. Will I be able to resist a re-map I wonder. Are there any must do's with these models?

Not many unmolested Mk1 Vrs around now. Keep it nice and standard (or at least easily returned to standard!) and you'll not lose any money on it I reckon...

Plenty of good info on Briskoda of course but a map and a rear anti-roll bar are meant to make quite a difference.

Mine is a workhorse, well used and getting a little leggy now at 150k but still on its original clutch, exhaust and turbo. I've had it nine years in Nov and it's just too useful to get rid of!!

Enjoy biggrin

Thanks for the welcome.

Standard in appearance is an attractive option... But a few more horses under the bonnet equally so. Stage 1 re map will do me nicely. Bet the wife would like me re mapped too for better performance!

I've pics of the Mk2 and the Corrado for sure, but on pieces of paper! Not as pixels.... I'll enlist my daughter to help scan and upload. I've loads of the Range Rover. I'm gutted I've none of the Mk1 nor RS1600i. I remember both plates... HYE 414W and A660 UCY. Wonder if they're still breathing?

The MK2 was totalled after the 17 year old son of the garage proprietor forgot where the brake pedal lived approaching a roundabout! Within a week of being given it! Sad end...

A shot of the Range Rover....

Finished in Adriatic Blue with contrasting blue/sand interior. I stayed away from examples with light seats. My kids would soon change the colour of those.....

The 20 inch Stormers suit the car IMHO...

These are currently off the car awaiting refurbishment. I'm running her with standard Vogue 5 spokes at the moment... I've also fitted rock crawler side bars and a new 06 look-a-like supercharged grill. I'll take some more pics when it's clean and share on here.

Can't wait for the Octavia to arrive. Whilst I love the RR, she's a dislike of bends and can lurch and lumber around in quite an ungainly. Which isn't becoming of a lady of her years frankly. I long for some cut and dash....like the old days. Mid life crisis time possibly!! I'm also sick of C1s and Up!s and other cars of this bee-like buzzy nature sniffing around my tail, under cutting me at roundabouts and generally making me feel inadequate!!
