What's going on with prices!?
Discussion
As may obvious, condition counts for a lot with these cars. Its very easy to see two identical adds and have two very different cars; I usually look for what isn't listed to get a feel for what is left to do. Anything that reads "honest and original" may as well be code for "needs £20k spending" assuming none of the major items have, which may sound exaggerated until you've got the bills to pay.
This being said, there are a number of ambitiously priced cars that have been around for many months that are simply not going to sell until the market catches up in a few years. And also the occasional private sale that does appear genuinely good value, but until you've seen it, the price may be at that level of a reason.
To give a quick example, a friend bought a fairly priced higher mileage 4.5, great bodywork, recent outriggers, generally wearing it mileage well. A year on it started burning oil and is now in for a £10k engine rebuild due to worn liners etc. The car will be a strong example once done, but if he bought a higher priced car with a recent engine refresh may have been cheaper overall.

Mine has been for sale for 2 months, had a few enquires and one viewing but nothing serious. Im wondering if Ive priced mine right but speaking to several TVR owners they told me the price is correct for the condition. There not exactly popular cars and my advert is 100% honest with all the information needed for a potential buyer. Il just have to wait it out but I am having doubts.
Seems to me that most of the people currently looking for TVR's, including Cerbera's, are looking for top quality examples for top money rather than ones that need significant work. The ones at top money from both individuals and dealers that are not selling are, I suspect, not really as good as the ones that don't hang around long.

Yep. 'twas a little cheap when I bought it, maybe £3-4k beneath the average going rate. It had everything going for it - even had a brand spanking new engine build when I picked it up too... it just so happens that it was astoundingly badly done. k with a wire drill attachment and using a Pringles lid to check for ovality. Fortunately mine was cheap. Unfortunately as far as the present market is concerned they're not and I'm not seeing any with a recent engine refresh by the only sets of people that matter. It was a similar story when I was looking too and I'd hate to be in the market for one this year based on what I have seen.
Paying more, say anoither 5k when I bought mine, or spending more than that now for this lot, even buying the Wheeler Dealers car: All I think could yield the same amount of bother that I am in now quite easily.
I'm glad to see our cars are on the up still but I agree these prices are weird.
I'd like to see a car with a great chassis, maybe a Power rebuild and good paint come up for sale (and sell) to see if it could deservedly command a top end price.
In the meantime I have nothing meaningful to benchmark my disassembled collection of 90's Blackpool artefacts against. Just a hopeful feeling that £25k or so might not be unreasonable when done.

Assuming yours is the yellow one on PH at the moment, it looks great. You just need to hang on. It'll sit there for a few months and then suddenly be snapped up. NuddyRap said:

It is, same advice ive heard off others, im not in a massive rush to sell but when you have no enquiries for a month you get worried. They're dream cars though and real driver's cars so of course the market is very small. Frustrating, but after all nobody needs a TVR Cerbera, so just keep reminding yourself that most people don't even know what one is, so It'll take time.
When the colour of someone's dream is yellow, it'll be gone before you realise it's no longer on the drive.

I wouldn't worry if you're not in a hurry to sell. The market is small and the Cerb is pretty specific in the TVR portfolio (FHC, AJPV8). In that condition and history its a "buy" for someone. As you said in the ad, you took 6 months to get to it, could well take the same to sell. The outstanding ones at Str8Six etc are a different appeal to people who aren't price sensitive. I think the Cerb V8 is a very special thing that can only increase its value - only production numbers mean it'll never get near Sagaris money but I think it'll pretty much track Tuscan Mk 1 values (which have the S6 variability factor).

£24k for the yellow one seems about right - will make me evaluate mine as it's in for a repaint at the moment. I thought value would be £25k afterwards but it's had a full body off chassis restoration, all new everything (pipes, hoses, bushes, bearings etc) new clutch.

Not sure an engine refresh is needed seeing as most as quite low mileage for the age and the AJP8 has examples of high mileage still running.

Just going to keep enjoying it until it goes. Don't really want to drop it anymore, theres a few minor things and the MOT is due in 3 months but all solid to drive. Will have to see how the market goes with new one been released soon.£24k for the yellow one seems about right - will make me evaluate mine as it's in for a repaint at the moment. Can I ask (approx) what is the cost of the respray ,is it full £24k for the yellow one seems about right - will make me evaluate mine as it's in for a repaint at the moment. Then another £3000 spent on bits whilst it was apart as I didn't want to do it al, again for ages, so all new fuel lines, brake lines, collect hoses, bushes, bearings, all new stainless nuts and bolts, new starter... two a4 sides of paper for the final bill and parts list...
Respray, well depends on your paint.mine is Rossi pearl, over £500 a litre now. I was quoted between £7-9k for a full respray, that's full strip, glass out, lights out etc. However as mine is still original, I didn't want to risk things being broken and not able to be replaced, so I've gone for a mask up and paint, which is £4200. Currently in being done by the guy who does a lot of work for Nick Mason and his ferraris etc.
