Wanted to know the PH opinion.

I can't decide on whether or not to get it replaced or leave it as it is. I tried to touch it up with a bit of sort of similar paint but its impossible to match the finish because it appears to be a sort of powder painted hyper silver sort of finish.

Anyway, photos:

I've enquired and it comes to about £295 including fitting and VAT (they have to take the door card out)

If this were your car, would you get it replaced? Would something like this hurt the residual value of it? (This is my first Porsche, I'm not too familiar with what people look for and to what degree)

If it pisses you off, replace it.

If it doesn't, don't.

I'd probably replace it, given the obvious youth of the car. My 996 door handles are a bit scuffed internally, and I'll probably replace them one day, but for now I've got more important things to want to do on the car. Yours, I should imagine less so.

Yeah, it'd probably detract from the car as it's so young. When they get to the age of my car, a light laughter line is seen as a job well done! biggrin

If you're trading into a place are they gonna knock £300 off the price? Not sure. The price quoted includes a markup so they make a profit.

Alternative could just be to wait until something else is being done on the car & have it done all at once. Might be cheaper.

If you are going to sell the car to trade then I'd leave it as it may not be spotted buy the dealer buying it from you (who will be ripping you off anyway).

Even if you are keeping it, I'm not sure I'd want to spend £300 on it. Can't get a second hand one?

I don't know which car you have got - but within generations the handle appears to be generic in PERT. For the cayman, the part number is 997-555-461-01-V05 (galvano silver) and SunSport sell them for £162 plus shipping.
eBay has http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-997-INTERIOR-DOO... for £80

The part itself isn't a problem, in fact, it was £130-something for the part including VAT.

I've come to an agreement with the OPC now anyway, they knocked a few quid off so I'm going ahead with it smile
