Cayenne (mk1) Prop Shaft Bearing

Hi

I think my Cayenne prop shaft bearing support has failed again - last time this happened there was a major vibration at 30mph+

This time the vibration isnt so bad - but again kicks in after 30 mph and feels like i have square wheels

I've got under the car and the shaft moves about 5mm either way - see video here https://youtu.be/Q5s9zLAeJCY

just like a second opinion before ordering the part

(sorry should have said the bearing support is just to the left of my hand to show the greatest movement)

Hi - you may have a problem with the actual shaft, not just the bearing.

Thanks - this is the second time this has happened - unfortunately Porsche will want to replace the whole shaft which has a part cost of over £1k

Last time a Porsche specialist used a Toureg part to replace the bearing support - still pretty expensive

This time hopefully going to use a 3rd party part https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9b271NLwSE designed in the states that replaces the rubber Porsche/VW part that obviously keeps failing

Not sure on your location, but I used these chaps when my central bearing failed.

A real old school garage, who did an excellent job within a few hours while I waited (in the cafe around the corner)

They do a 'special deal' for cayenne and touregs too. Maybe worth a look / chat with them?
