A musical exhaust for the 12c?
Discussion
I have recently bought a 12c spider which is fitted with the McLaren sports exhaust. In my opinion it sounds much better than the standard exhaust, but nowhere near as good as my other V8 cars have done. Many years ago I owned a F355 fitted with a Tubi which sounded impressive, until I swapped it for a Capristo which sounded absolutely epic. Is there an exhaust which can release the 12c's music?
Thanks, I was forgetting about the warranty! Sadly probably a non starter as a result. I'd still be interested to hear one with an alternative exhaust, but you're also right about the fact this is my first turbo V8, so that will have an impact - although Mercedes have still managed to make the new turbo' AMGs sound epic...
I've heard all the options for the 12C / 650S and while they can make the car sound louder, more guttural and put more pops and bangs in, none of them alter the essential tone of the car - kind of a flat, atonal bark. Your quest to unlock the music I'm afraid is doomed to failure.
I have the same system as you btw, factory Sports system on my 12C Spider.

Same problem here, all be it with a 12C coupe with the standard exhaust.
I love the car but it sounds absolutely rubbish in comparison to my previous cars!!
I wouldn’t want to run the car without the mclaren warranty as a major failure like gearbox I wouldn’t want to risk.
I spoke to Mclaren Manchester about this who advised me that, on a warranty claim over £1,000 that the warranty company will come and inspect the car, and if something is "non standard" they will reject the claim even if it's something unrelated the the exhaust such as a gearbox for example, and the same applies even if you just change the back part of the exhaust, it has to be mclaren approved.
So my dilema is whether to spend 6k switching to the optional mclaren sports exhaust but I'm struggling justifying that cost as I'm told it doesn’t sound any different from the inside
