My 991 had a bit of a bad day........

Started off with a nice clean car and looking forward to a drive with the roof open and sun shining to Moston Hall in North Norfolk for Afternoon Tea.
Left Norwich about 1.45pm, 15mins into the journey and on a busy Cromer Road the car just dies, came to a complete stop and the dashboard lights up like a christmas tree. Only done 20,000 miles.
On phone to RAC at 2pm and turned up at 3.45pm. While waiting contacted OPC Cambridge. Busy will call back. Rac plugged laptop in and according to the software

DTC: P0611,Fuel injector control module - performance problem
Rac then called for the local pickup truck. They turned up at 6.30pm.
OPC never called back. So rang them again. Very helpfull and will take a look at it tomorrow and report back.
On way to drop car off Vodafone Tracking ring to say alarms are ringing at the vehicle tracking centre. Rang them to say all is fine and car on low loader on way to OPC. Did ring them while waiting for RAC and left message. They don't pick up messages.......
Fingers crossed it will not be to expensive........

It's ok, my Porsches which have all been relatively new have been taken away on a flatbed multiple times.
If you are lucky the AA won't mark your wheels, like they did on my 10,000 mile 20" diamond cut rims, if you are really lucky you will get a suitable hire car, and if you are super lucky OPC will fix your car first time.

Update....
Had a call from the OPC today. Car is now under investigation and they will report back as soon as the fault had been diagnosed.
What I forgot to mention on the day of the breakdown was how great the people were who lived near by.
They came out with drinks and chairs for us and said if we needed a comfort break then just use the loo by the back door. A local Tyre company Havers Tyres even stopped to see if we had a puncture and could offer any help. All this helped make the whole experiance a little better.

Had call today from Porsche to say they think the DME is at fault and will need changing at a cost of £1100 for the part and labour.
I have requested Porsche contribute towards the cost. I don't think that a 5 year old car with only 20,000 miles on the clock should have a failure of the DME. So waiting now for another call from Porsche to say they will help with the cost of the repair before the work can go ahead.

Thanks for that. Yes had it from new.As of today the request for a contribution from PORSCHE via a form on the PC towards the cost of repair was rejected.

The service guy's are no going to make a manual review of the case and are hopeful of a full contribution

Car back home today all fixed. Managed to get a dealer contribution and Porsche UK also contributed. So final bill was cut in half.

Then took the car to Havers Tyres in Norwich for two new rear tyres. The guys there took great care when fitting the new tyres and were considerably cheaper than the Porsche OPC.
Off next week for a three week driving holiday around UK. Looking forward to this very much.

Thought I would update the post as a lot has happened
My car was returned and new tyres fitted. Off we went on our driving holiday around the UK.
Two days into the holiday and the phone goes off and it was Porsche Centre Cambridge to inform me that Porsche UK was going to pay my third of the bill. So Porsche paid for the whole repair My email to Chris Craft and Customer Assistance at Porsche UK had an effect. After all, I have been a porsche customer for 30 plus years without a breakdown. Returned from holiday, car did not have any problems and we had a great driving holiday.
I found two blanking plates in the boot which had not been fitted after the car was fixed. The panels had broken fixings. OPC Cambridge supplied these and I fitted them to the rear of the car under the spoiler. While fitting them I noticed another panel which was lose. This panel had two missing rubber grommets. The panel was not going to fall off so did not worry to much about this. Thought I would leave till service time.
On returning home I filled in the Porsche customer survey waiting in my email inbox. Said how happy I was with the outcome of the recent fix to my 991 and what good service I had had from OPC Cambridge. I did mention the missing grommets when filling in the survey. Adrian Gibbons Service manager OPC Cambridge contacted me and he arranged to have the grommets sent to me. Grommets arrived and I fitted them. Car as far as I can see is now back to the state it was before the breakdown
