Finding a person

How would you go about finding contact details for someone who you've lost touch with?
Someone who came into our social circle a couple of years ago out of the blue said his goodbyes and was leaving to either go back to his family in the Isle of Wight or visit relatives in Germany. Mobile number and email are all dead.
HIs mum lives – or at least lived – in a small village approx 15 miles away although none of us would dream of turning up on her doorstep asking about his whereabouts, not least as we don't know her address.
We've all said several times about how nice it would be just to let him know we all still think of him and hope he's okay (he was not without his own personal issues, though nothing catastrophic or would lead to a downward spiral – we hope).
I understand that if he wanted to hear from us he could make contact eventually but even so, it would be nice to get a message to him.
Any ideas?

Why won't you ask his mum? You know where she is, it wouldn't take long to find her address, and then the mystery is solved.Someone who came into our social circle a couple of years ago out of the blue said his goodbyes and was leaving to either go back to his family in the Isle of Wight or visit relatives in Germany. going to depend what country he is in ... if its the UK 192.com can be really useful and I used it to track and trace my exwife in order to serve the divorce papers correctly (I did the process myself rather than use a solicitor)
if in another country it will be decidedly more difficult
social media would be a good start, or forums if you know they have a particular interest.
I would seek out his mum though personally and ask her to pass your number/email on and ask him to get in touch, then its unsolicited and the ball is in his court ... I would imagine his family would be pleased to know as well that he isnt gone and forgotten by his previous friends/social circle

It's feasible if I knew her address. All I have is a Surname (Smith) and the village name.Robbo 27 said:
Going through a similar situation right now, I would like to see how my ex wife is, I know the town she lives in and even the street address, but as I am married again I suppose I should leave it alone.
sweet lord you need to leave that well alone ... talk about water under the bridge and its irrelevant how good/bad a split was Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
