Has anyone had any exerience with a Manta? I've got the opportunity to buy one but after owning an old mini I don't want something with similar reliability (or lack of). Meaning that you fix one thing only for something else to break in a constant increasingly expensive cycle. I realise it's an old car and won't have the reliability of an new one but any pointers, advice or anything else would be appreciated.

manta owners club would be a good start.

Also not sure where you are in the uk but July 8-9 the VBOA show takes place and youll see plenty of mantas and members so can get lots of help / parts etc maybe worth a visit

A very long time ago I had a Manta GT/E for about 6 months, put fuel in it, drove it 4,000 miles.

Quite a sweet spot in terms of 5 speed box, fuel injection, not a lot else to go wrong.

Apart from the third party alarm that would cause the headlamps and hazard lights to flash whilst driving :-(

Thank you both! Big help, I'll have a look at their forum, you'd think that would have been the first thing that I'd do

When I was at the Nurburgring for the 24hours at the weekend I was drooling over a Manta A actually, Then I spotted a replica of the one in the race. Shame it retired

Best car I had. Not the fastest but easy to get fun out of. Would have another in heartbeat but good ones are incredibly rare.
