£20K repair estimate
Discussion
We had an accident in our 22ft Regal 2008 where the outdrive came off and slight damage to the hull. Resulted in engine out, new bravo 3's required etc etc. The estimate for the repair is £20K and I paid £26.5K for it last year. I have submitted it to my insurer and wonder what their view will be on it. It took a long time to find the model I wanted in the good condition it was in. Very depressing

If they say its not economical to repair, perhaps you could buy back the boat and fix it up yourself? Or sub out jobs to do it?What happened?

Not wanting to sound daft, but how is the figure of £22k arrived at? A Bravo 3 drive is about £8,500 for that leaves a lot for hull repairs.
I was wondering the same thing, then read "new bravo 3's" in the OP so assume he's referring to two? 2 bravo 3's in a 22ft Regal sounds like a lot of fun, albeit slightly impossible so I'm quite confused...OP - I assume you hit something at speed to break the drive? Unless this tore a chunk out of the transom or as robinh73 said damaged the hull, I can't quite make 22k stack up.
Either way, sorry to hear about the incident and hope you get back on the water soon.

That still sounds like quite a hefty bill. I have just checked the last Bravo 3 drive we sold and they work out at about £7,000 inc VAT. Engine out is about 3-4 hours, same to put back in.
