All, thought I would drop a note into this forum as I know most Caterham's still use sensible sized wheels. I am looking for a used 185/55 x 13 tyre. I have a mk2 Escort that runs rear disks which somewhat limits the wheel/tyre combo that fits nicely under the arches. I want to mount an old 185/55 x 13 on a 7" rim to see if it is a feasible solution, before dropping a load of cash on a narrow axle. I am in the North Kent area, but willing to travel/arrange shipping. Thanks in advance.

Isn't Longstone Tyres the usual answer for old/odd tyres?

A 7" rim will need a wider tyre than 185. Maybe 205 or 215. Both standard Caterham sizes.

It will be the 55 section that will be your problem - you won't find a large selection of 185 section, 13" diameter tyres of such a low profile.

185/60 x 13" would be easier, but there's the Michelin TB5, if you have deep pockets.

No - there are actually lots of 185 55 13 tyres out there - Avon ZZRs and ZZSs most obviously. If you want to borrow one I'd be happy to oblige. I'll need it back, though! I live near Ashford in Kent. Just send me a mail and we can arrange something..
