i love the black alloys on the exige and think they would look very good on an elise -are they the same size and if so i guess they can take the standard elise tyres?

Are they not very similar to the 111s wheels, but just in Black?

Why not just get the 111s wheels done Black and I bet it would be hard to spot the difference.

Alternative wheel options for the 111r are the Exige2 alloys and the LotusSport lightweight forged rims (standard US-spec), the latter representing a useful 2.5kg unsprung weight saving at each corner. IIRC, you can get the rims in silver or black satin paint and anodised finishes for about £2k including a set of Yokos.

I seem to recall reading that the wheels from the S2 Exige and Elise 111r are not inter-compatible with the earlier cars, despite looking similar. IIRC, the rears have an increased offset whilst the fronts also have a higher load rating. I think it has something to do with the new ABS-ready hubs and revised suspension pick-up points.

Karl is spot on re fitment.

Rimstock supply the OEM wheels, and while they are rather soft, the satin finish on the black wheels is excellent. I've seen a damaged wheel, and the painted finish is VERY thick - more like powder coat.

I was gonna go the powder coating route on my wheels, but Lotus technical services have warned me against heat cycling the wheels again

Not really sure what to do now

If your after a 111S, find a dealer with a car that has factory black wheels.

If you want a 111R, not sure if Exige S2 wheels fit - would cost a packet anyhow.

Powder coat is 100% most durable finish, but Lotus won't want to know you if they fail after heat-cycling.

Other option is a decent wheel refurb place .. Lepsons?

I suspect the "little" extra cost for Exige2 rims would probaly be four-figures .

The Exige2 front rims and tyres are a bit wider than those on the 111r - 6.5j rims with 195/50 for the Exige2 and 5.5j 175/50 for the 111r. Rears, however, are the same at 7.5j 215/45.

Karl's right about wheels for the Toyota-engined cars being different to those on K-cars. Not interchangeable.

However, S2 Exige wheels DO fit the 111r. The mod of choice is to put Exige springs & dampers on at the same time. Oil cooler apart, hey presto, a convertible Exige! A few people have done it and it's not cheap.

How expensive? is it "divorce" expensive or just a few days sleeping on the sofa expensive?

sounds like it could be 'move onto a park bench' expensive.....maybe i will have to settle for black 111s rims.

I will have a set of Exige S2 wheels and tyres at the end of next week , used for 450 running in miles.
It's a long story but the short of it is: dealer sprayed them silver when my car was new as i wanted the Exige cup ones (the same wheel but in high power silver) and was told by the dealer that they are not an option.
the spray finish was not perfect when i got the car so i had them powder coated but the finish is still not perfect
So after falling out with the dealer and the powder coating place and my car just sat stands in the garage for weeks, i phoned brooke and kensington and they have got me a set of cup wheels from Lotus motosport but they have tyers on them ,and the price 1600 sleep in the dog basket for a month pounds.
I just want a bit less than half that for my old ones but you will need to powder coat them black.

At £800 are you paying the postage?

Could be interested.
