Has anyone tried to get just the outlet panel / part of the airbox? It looks like it is just screwed in with a load of sealant. I’ve looked at the full carbon boxes, very nice, but can’t quite stretch to £600.
It's just that the outlets have all collapsed where the hose clamps have been over tightened, some to about half their normal dia. I guess letting in dirty / hot air.
I knew they were buggered so took it to Charlie’s rolling road to see what power we’d been running with before I started fiddling & still made 345 bhp…

Assume you mean the panel with 4 large ports in it ?
If they are crushed that much i would be very concerned no parts were going to get sucked into the engine !!!!!!!!!
Why not remove and get re fibreglassed ?
Or try a salvage yard ?
Yes that's the one, that was one of concerns. They are £70 (just the panel) from TVR
I've dug out the fiberglass.... 2 sheds said:
Very common problem, they can be fixed with internal aluminium tubing, i can help you out if you want some of the tubing, or if you wait a bit there will be a new modification available, but not for at least 4-6 weeks.

Thanks for that, I think I'll fix it with some fiberglass for now & keep an eye on your site to see what you've come up with
Will it be involving the stock air box?HarryW said:

Yes the idea is to supply a new design trumpet plate and retain the original airbox, i'm only interested in upgrades, not cosmetics.
My kind of thinking, GO not SHOW.

The nice thing with Tim's stuff is apart from working it usually looks the business too.

That sounds like an excellent philosophy & very good idea.
I was thinking along kinda similar lines when I re-built them, I had to fix six outlets in the end. I took a mould of one of the last two intact ones & re-made all the others one by one. Also totally removed the large lip left (for strength?) by TVR as I made the wall much stronger. I can’t think that large lip does much for airflow on an engine already struggling for air. Also has anyone else noticed how the purple in-let rubber pipes are crushed together in the middle cylinders. The outer (front & back) have a much larger internal dia at the bend down to the engine, would that effect flow much, anyone got an air flow meter?

Good news. I'm sure that erring on the side of caution (not wanting to crush the fibreglass with the hose clips on the current set-up) is responsible for the petrol niff in my car.
Are we likely to be hearing any news from anywhere on improved exhaust manifolds as well?

Like I suggested in aprevious thread and seems that Joospeed has tried, using shorter trumpets and not crossing them over would be much more efficient.

Yes but that was at the expense of power lower down the revs (to gain higher I think), how much I'm not sure, but I'd like more low down power if possible.
It's possible the crushed pipes don't affect the flow at all, the start & ends are the same the gasses would have to speed up through the narrower bit - to what over all effect
- anyone? As we have both noticed they are different so I wouldn't have thought that could be a good thing over all...
