Ok here goes....Revs been sticking until throttle blipped, erratic tickover, sounds a bit like its missing/not picking up cleanly.fuel pump more noisy than normal???also got a low pitch whine when throttle lightly pressed ( someone mentioned a plenum chamber drone but it seems to come occasionally and then go.)Maybe getting paranoid about certain noises!!
Also ,whats the best stuff to stick down dash leather with and velcro where the hood attaches. Also found a threaded knurled washer thing in footwell so am waiting for something to fall off from under the dash. Coincidently picked up a squeak around about the same time.Got a few rattles whilst going over cobbled type speed bumps so I think a crawl underneath is in order. It mentions noisy shocks in the history but will have to have a pull and a prod.I just wish I enjoyed tinkering as much as I enjoyed driving the bloody thing.thanks in advance for help / suggestions.

Clean the stepper motor. No there is no adjustment on the clutch, but dropping it into 1st first will stop the insides of the gearbox and make it easier to get reverse.

Matt,
You can order Steve Heaths 2nd Edition from WHSmith for around the mid twenties.
Takes couple of weeks if your prepared to wait...
