I'm trying to return an extension lead that I bought off eBay, it arrived with a smashed front. The seller sent me a pre paid postage form. I went to the post office and they said I can't send it without the sellers ppi paperwork to show it's been paid as it's on account. The seller is not being helpful and it's now past the eBay 30 day opening a case policy.

How much is the extension lead?

Can you not just ship it back and claim for the return postage? Have you raised a case with Ebay prior to the 30 day period?
Paypal may offer you additional protection here.

Open a case, ebay should provide a return label which you can drop off at the Post Office.

He can't just close the case without a resolution? Has he closed the case and you've been refunded? In which case, just bin the faulty product?

PayPal?

Just send it back and claim - as long as the postage is the same as the original postage to you you'll get it back as well. Even if he ignores or fights it, you'll be refunded in the end.

Keep proof of posting, etc - you can scan an image and put that on the dispute as well. Probably unnecessary, but won't cost you anything.

I opened a case but then had this email:

The seller declined the return request.

As its been more than 30 days then they can decline it. Do you think it's better to go through paypal?

But you initially contacted him about the issue before the 30 days correct? How did you contact him - via ebay messenger I would imagine in which case you have copies of the conversation you can take to ebay. Failing that, raise it with Paypal & threaten/leave negative feedback.

It took you over 30 days to organise sending an extension lead back that arrived damaged?
