718 cayman Brake Caliper

have a look at my brake caliper.......and all 4 are the same....I only noticed this when I came back today...
Just been down to the OPC who said "this looks like acid damage" and my car cleaners denying using any acid on the car......... funny enough they are the only people who have EVER cleaned the car from new.
any thoughts ?

Always used to go round to the local cleaners regularly with my previous cars.
With the Porsche, and the mental cost of the diamond-cut Turbo rims, ain't no one cleaning them but me with PH-neutral cleaners, or a professional detailer.
Regular cleaners use acids as they quickly remove hard-set grime and brake dust, but over time they corrode metal, as with any acid.
Avoid!

I'm of the opinion that the black calipers that Porsche fit the standard models do fade. It could be UV exposure, cleaning products or the paint breaking down after heating/cooling. Our Cayenne suffered from this as have many other black calipers I've seen.
+1 for sure. No acid used on my wheels, only car shampoo. Oh, and the bolts...
Bolts were sorted with rust converter and... a black marker pen. No further issues.

I use Muc-Off on my wheels/brakes and haven't suffered any of this kind of corrosion? My calipers are red, but I assume the silver ones are also painted?
As an aside, my daughters 1 series, is 15 months old, gets cleaned at these roadside 'valeters' and if I didn't know, I would swear that the car was 15 yrs old and been standing on Aberystwyth sea front all that time?
They must use old battery acid to clean the wheels?

Oh... and it's been through a 111 point warranty check a week ago with no comments now I've remedied it myself. Same OPC.
Don't mind the calliper colour at all. To my eye it's just a kind of patina from usage.
well the valet company have denied using anything on the car that would harm the calipers.....and I can just see them saying "well somebody else must have don't it".....and Porsche are not going to give in.
on a more positive note the person I used to detail my F430 has a Porsche and he says its a common problem......and will repaint them for me.
oh well............what a poor finish though from Porsche,

well its all 4 calipers , and I am going to have them repainted in Black.....I will post pics up of the finished job when they are done.I have to say, I have used the car cleaners for years, they clean loads of high end stuff and never have a problem....and never damaged my Ferrari.
But they will never touch my car again and I've told Porsche the quality of their paint finish on the Calipers is s
