Just noticed over the last few episodes the judging chefs tasting things as being cooked. and then the comments , wondered what others thought of this, surley they should taste as part of the finished dish and not during cooking and saying mm i cant taste this or thats too strong. seems unfair to me.
Seems there is not much love for the GBM?
Its one of my TV food favorites , seeing the Michelin star chefs cook it out with some crazy results, and being judged by genuine established chefs!
i love to see professionals at the top of their game in a competition, but this was the only thread in TV section i could find?

I watched the Welsh chef's one last week and thought it quite amusing how the judging chef's opinions almost seemed opposite to the critics who rated at the end.
Out the two who cooked for the critics I want to go to Nathan's more, really liked his take on the food and his place looks good!

This always seems to be the case and it really winds me up! When the chefs judging are the likes of Paul AInsworth and Tommy Banks etc I'd like to think they have a decent idea of what makes a great dish - moreso than Payton and Fort. It's all done to format now anyway - it's about how many times you've been on there. If you just missed out last time, you'll get put through the next etc. Hence I'm sure the judging round it just made up to fit that agenda. Swervin_Mervin said:

They are not supposed to know who cooked what, but not sure if its total BS or not.
It is strange how the dishes are perceived so differently from the Michelin judge to the panel, cant work it out, i think it would be good to see a chef on the final panel to see how they react.
But i still like to see some of the spectacular work they produce, and who can forget the chef meltdown when Marcus Wareing was on

IIRC On that episode Marcus scored the Chef a 2. They are not supposed to know who cooked what, but not sure if its total BS or not.

His fellow chefs were a 7 or 8 IIRC
A google after watching - it turned out that Marcus had history with that chef and basically threw him under the bus.
All the respect I had for Marcus was simply just gone because - he judged on his hatred.
Been lucky enough to dine at a couple of winners restaurants when they were serving their dishes.
Bloody outstanding.
Me. Gutted for Jude, even though they did give him the Canape and pre-desserts. Felt like a bit of a send off for him.
We've been trying to get in his place Kota for weeks now but think we'll miss out for when we're down there. Really wanted to try his dishes! We've been a few times before and loved it - his Rock Pool dish is something I still remember vividly, more than any dish I've had in a Michelin starred place.
