One of the questions that has been asked repeatedly and never really properly answered is "what changes have been made to the speed-6 since it was introduced?". As you've probably seen the insides of most of them over the years I figure we'll be able to get a definitive answer for once!

I've heard that it's been fundamentally changed since '99 (i.e. the block upwards) but had a number of changes mid-2002. Is that correct?

From a PH'er point of view it'd be nice to be able to choose a used speed-6 engined car based on the engine spec (as the reliabiliy of the engine is a worry to many!).

Darren.

Kevin,

Welcome to PH.

I guess there will be lots of questions on the Value stretch issue and the cams and followers.

One question I had was to do with the sort of power you can get from the Speed 6 4.0 ltr. I understand that engines are restricted to the amount of air/fuel you can get through the engine will restrict power. But over the years the Red Rose 4.0 Ltr was 380 BHP and in 2005 the Speed Six ‘S’ engine has a reputed 405 BHP.

Understand that you cannot give you and trade secrets on a public forum, but I some insight to how the extra gains were made would be nice. E.g different profile cams, remapped ecu etc etc.

Cheers

Welcome to PH.

You might end up regretting that offer though, I think there are lots of people here who would love to know more about the workings of the Speed6!
