Is this the correct way round to fitting on the N/S ?

Worst "look how clean my suspension is" thread I've ever seen.

Yeah that looks about right to me, how you tried to see if they fit the other way? After my Steve Heath ones became rattly I found tried Honda Accord ones and they fit better on my car.

That doesn't look too bad, when the wishbone comes up level the anti roll bar pivot point should move back some. Ideally you need to unbolt the shock to see how it would look.

Here a shot of one of my Honda Civic front drop links.

Unlike the originals and the Racetech ones the stub axles on the Honda links point in the same direction although not quite in the same plain, these slight angle differences seem to perfectly match the angles of the wishbone bracket and ARB. The fact the top & bottom joints don't sit on opposing sides like the originals seems of little importance.

The Honda links also seem like they'll have a significantly longer life than the dreadful TVR originals that use feeble vulcanised rubber ball joints just like those used on a Triumph TR6 from the 1970's, this type of old tech link was rubbish on the TR6 so really has no place on a 150mh+ TVR.

The Racetech links look good but they are ferociously expensive compared with the Honda links which we now know work brilliantly, I would therefore advise anyone shopping for drop links to go straight for the Honda ones.
  • I used the links specified for a MK VII [1997-2012] Honda Civic on the front (Febi Bilstein brand)
  • For the rears I went with the links from a Mk3 Mondeo estate 2000/2001 (Delphi brand)
  • The total cost was £44.67
My Chimaera has been wearing the above front/rear combination for nine months now which with my new latest spec Tuscan 'S' Mk3 Bilsteins gives a very complaint ride with fantastic handling. This setup also eliminates all the banging and crashing ride I had with Gaz Gold Pros and none of the nasty creaking & clacking noises you get from rose jointed drop links.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but my Steve Heath front drop links are showing small signs of play, so to be ready for the MOT this year i'm going to change them. Are the Civic ones mentioned in this thread the 55mm ones ?

i have found these here:

They are not correct.
If you look at COG photo of the racetech links they are longer.

I also have the RaceTech links so can’t help you on which are the correct Honda ones.

Excuse me, I should have read COG post properly.
No his are not Racetech links.
Yes they look like the Honda ones.
His the ball joints face roughly the same direction, the ones you posted are opposite.
Maybe the ones you posted are Civic after 2012 Dave’s COG are Civic upto 2012.
Also the connecting arm on the ones you show looks too short.
Has someone got a link for this gentlman please.
Maybe these work but a friend gave me a pair very similar to these and I couldn’t make them line up and work properly.
COG ones are the correct orientation.

If you look back on here maybe a couple of weeks ago someone was discussing this very issue and had the recomended parts with a good orientation, I think it depends on what year of the Honda you buy, some recomend one type, others something different, the advise I followed was probably not the best, they fit with difficulty but look horrible, I think it’s the ones which are nearly at the same angle that work out best

Every ad on Ebay shows links with the joints at about 90 degrees to each other, except this one... Civic mkVII drop links ... confused

You could always just buy the Racetech ones, as this was a thread about Racetech links!

There are many parts that once the Independant Tvr suppliers give up will become difficult to source.
I know the Racetech ones are more expensive but really in the scale of things. Better than buying the wrong ones. How cheap does that work out.
Someone do a thread about these Honda links so people looking up Racetech links won’t get confused as to what they are buying.

Try buying MG parts from designated and committed suppliers. Really nothing in the Tvr world is all that expensive.

No need for that Laracer frown
See how I got it wrong because I assumed COG had Racetech links.

Someone needs to sort these out and do a Honda drop link thread so it’s easy to find is all I was saying.
I’m not Big Al ( moderator ) hehe
Your welcome to put your post back up as we are all equal here thumbup

I'm fairly sure there's some extremely lengthy threads on drop links. It's where I got my ideas from in 2017!

I used Honda Accord ones on my last '96 Chimaera, about 15mm longer than the Civic ones.

Can't upload a photo, it comes up "forbidden" (?!?). It's not the file size. confused

PISTONHEADS IS A WASTE OF TIME.
Sadly it’s had its day and no modernisation will go on as I’m sure you know.

IF IT TAKES 20 minutes to upload a few pics after you have reduced them etc etc, bloody farcical and insulting to both users and advertisers alike who use this space.
Seems insane as over the whole platform it’s still hugely popular with thousands of posts on many subjects.

Just reduced the size of a picture down to 248KB and it comes up as forbidden. What’s that all about?
