When DPD lose or damage a parcel and a claim is made, they only pay compensation on the supplier's product cost, not on the sale value of the damaged items.

Obviously this is not reasonable, we do not have unlimited stocks available for DPD to damage, regardless of the storage, handling & overhead issues

If we accept this cost only recompense we are loosing our profit and the DPD charge for (damaged) delivery.

What's the way round this? to cover the real replacement cost

why are you losing your profit?

item costs to you £10
you sell it for £100

DPD damage it
They pay you £10
You buy another for £10
and send it to the punter

in effect DPD have paid off the supply cost of the damaged item...

Your total cost is £20 on 2 items minus £10 for the damage = £10
Income is £100 - so you still make £90

If you have added value to the £10 so that cost to you is £40 at point of dispatch then that should be the value for DPD otherwise you are having to repeat the value add and will lose out...

So, not sure I understand the point you are making? If your figures are different are you able to illustrate why you feel you are losing out?

If the issue is limited items to supply - e.g. there are only 10 items a year, so they have lost the ability for you to sell one of those items, then you need to insure for the cost of the lost opportunity which is different to the product cost...

Nah - you decline buyers claim - net cost £10, income £200, profit £190, innit?

Take the offer, your'e lucky, they lost a laptop of ours, paid us out as weight of item so we got about £40 but we had to pay a £15 admin charge that came out of the £40. They dont lose mush but when they do its a royal pain and they wont pay out.
