Fitting indicators

I would appreciate some guidance with the fitting of indicators to my vintage car. I intend to fit the old style indicators to the back of the car and wish to use a dual filament bulb in the existing sidelights on the front of the car.
Currently the front sidelights are fitted with a small bayonet parallel pin 6v 6w bulb. Advise sought on how to change the current system.

I recently fitted indicators to my wife's 1930 Lagonda and it was much easier and quicker to do than I expected.

For the front indicators I used these led bulbs that do both sidelights and indicators in a single bulb. The original sidelights on the Lagonda had an old-style 2 pole bulb and holder (live & earth) , but the new led bulbs earth via the case and the two poles on the end of the bulb are both live feeds - one for the sidelight bit of the bulb and one for the indicator half. So it was a simple case of changing what was the earth wire to the bulb holder in the sidelight so it became an indicator live feed and running a new wire into the sidelight to earth the outside case of the bulb holder. Hopefully that makes sense. Anyway, it was easy to do and very discreet as the sidelights look completely unchanged but now perform as indicators as well. The LED bulbs are very bright and work very well indeed.

For the rear lights they do provide inserts again that you can put into the original lights along with new plastic lenses that allow you to have the indicators in the original lights the same as the sidelights at the front. I bought some of these but I would have had to butcher the original rear lights to such an extent that I opted not to use them and just bought additional indicators. I went for these ones which are very easy to install and very discreet. They also come with their own brackets that I was able to mount straight to the chassis of the Lagonda.

And they also sell this indicator stalk. I was going to install a toggle switch on the dashboard, but it was easier to install this indicator stalk as it just clamps onto the steering column and it works very well.

I'm pretty sure they offer 6v and 12v solutions as well as -ve and +ve earth

The Lucas 1130 sidelight was pretty universal for a long time.

It is now possible to buy new LED innards that allow both a white side light and an orange indicator within the original housing.

I was told these don't meet lighting regulations but I sold the car I was intending to fit them to and haven't checked:

1130 Conversion Kit (not LED)

...but the sidelights on the Humber don't look like 1130s to me.

Thanks once again for information.

The lights are Lucas, just about make out the 'king of the road' medalian. What model I have no idea as yet.
