Superb 3u Towbar Help please.
Discussion
Hello.
I need a towbar for my 2007 Superb. It looks fairly easy to fit the new bumper bar with the flange on it , but I want to make sure I don't mess up the electrics. Single electric will do.
My car is the minor update with indicators on the mirrors etc. In the owner's handbook it says " Your vehicle is fitted with a 13 pin power socket for the connection between vehicle and trailor" . Perfect , where is this please?
If it's not there , is it safe to just connect to the light wires. I am a little worried about can bus and bypass relays.
Thank you.

The 13 pin socket it refers to is on the standard Skoda towbar accessory. Your car, unless specified with factory fitted towbar won't have a socket there already. Factory fitted towbar was a very rare option as it was expensive and only for single electrics.
If your car was spec'd with tow bar preparation, the wiring up to the NSR quarter will be there. You'll then need to fit the towbar and bracket along with the 13pin socket wiring.
Skoda only offered the 13pin trailer socket, never the 7pin one, regardless of whether you require single or twin electrics. Been a while since I fitted any towbars to Skodas bit I'm pretty sure of that info.
If your car didn't have any kind of towbar or prep fitted you'd need to run the wires to the fuse box on the OSF dash end panel and to the BCM located near it. Not a massive job as I seem to recall. Twin electrics require other wires running down into the engine bay for the charging relay.
In any case it'll all need coding in afterwards.
That's from a dealer/OEM retrofit perspective. I'm sure there's other ways around it but I can't comment on those as I've never fitted them.

The genuine kit with removable head is less than £250, although the parts listing I have is a bit vague on whether it includes the necessary wiring kit. There's a picture, but no price.
I'd just get a specialist to fit it - there will be VCDS coding required to activate the towing functionality in the instrument cluster, ABS etc
