Does anyone have a cheap Jago ?
Discussion
Hi guys im new to the forum so hello.
Im looking for a cheap Jago to buy, ive loved these geeps since the early 90's when my cousin had one and always wanted one myself.
Years on and i hope to own one in the very near future !
If anybody has one or knows where i might find one cheap then id be very gratefull. Im not very clever with engine work but can take on light work if needed.
Thanks for your help.
Dave

Hello Dave
Just seen your posting....have you checked e-bay at all? (search for 'Jago' or 'Jago Jeep') There's usually something on there to buy....check first that the V5 is correct!! Also the club mag 'Transmissions' is another source of finding vehicles and parts for sale.
I'm no wizard with a spanner either, but there's usually someone on hand at the club to offer advice or to help out.
Hopefully you'll get something soon and I along with fellow JOC members welcome you aboard.
Best wishes,
Gerry

Hi Dave
Gerry is quite right , the most important aspect is that the vehicle is correctly registered as a Jago , you need to see the actual V5 dont just take a seller's word for it.
If you email your contact details to membership@jago-owners-club.com you will be sent details of how to join the club.
There are usually a few vehicles for sale within the club and this month's magazine also features an article on the subject of V5's
Cheers

Hi Dave
The V5 is the log book or registration document , where it says Make it should say Jago it it still says Ford and the model is Escort you will no doubt have problems when you try to change the details into your name and tax the vehicle.
The other aspect to consider is that any traffic officer following you would be most surprised to find the vehicle in front looks nothing like an Escort and want to investigate further.
New MOT legislation will soon mean your vehicle details will be checked before the test is carried out , the tester can refuse to test anything that is not as described on the DVLA database.

Taxation depends on engine size , cheapest option being a 1100/1300 , unless you are lucky enough to find a Geep based on a tax exempt vehicle then they dont come any cheaper...!
For insurance try one of the specialists such as Adrian Flux.
I pay £138 F/Comp for 6000 miles a year which seems about the norm for a mature driver (ie over 25) but there are so many variables depending on each individual driver's "history" so this should only be taken as a guide.

This is the main Transmissions website adverts page
www.transmissionsonline.org.uk/page5.htm
The other address is the old web site. I still keep it up to date as a back-up but the web host does put ads on it so I recommend members use the new one.
Ray
PS. Dave already has a wanted ad on the page.
