Has anyone ever bought one? There are some stunning wood sculptures just outside Thame, but I've no idea how much they cost. They had a life sized bear sculpture there that I liked. I've no idea wether they are £100 or £1000
I was gonna stop and ask, but they are in such a poor position.
Did any of you ever ?
(I'm also worried they may have a couple of dogs tied up with string, and are about to bum anyone who stops)

Not at all, they are usually local craftsmen that move about.
Stop and ask but they are hundreds of pounds for the smaller items (to be fair a lot of effort goes into asking them)

To be fair, they didn't look like ruffians, they were just parked up in such a rubbish location there was no way to stop and ask. From what I saw they were quality sculptures. Maybe a moment of madness thinking a full size bear carving would look good in my garden, but hey - the kids could dress it up at Easter and Xmas... wink

From what I've been told by people who have bought from the guy on the Thame roundabout is that they are very expensive

Hundreds to thousands for a decent sized sculpture

I've never stopped to look close up but have been told they are excellent quality and often see people stopping to browse

I looked at some on the road between buckingham and bicester. As noted they were in the hundreds.
They weren't 3.14keys - just hippy dippy types.

I think that everyone in East London knows the giant wooden bear that sits on the side of the road near the Blackwall Tunnel, it's been there for years so he must want a couple million quid for it hehe

All that I can find for the place is an old facebook page and a cheap website, definitely hippies. .

I used to drive backwards and forwards to Cheltenham 15 ish years ago when studying and every summer there was a guy in an old horse drawn caravan parked up on a green next to one of the quieter parts of the a40. I spent years going past thinking that his sculptures were cool.

Huge range of mushrooms, owls, a big bear and some other stuff.

Stopped at one point more out of curiosity than needing a 6ft wooden bear but thought maybe I'd pick up a mushroom for the garden.
The guy was pretty old and looked like he fell straight out of 1970. Then he told me that a 2ft shroom was £150.

So I left.

He's still there.

I did hear that the guy involved was either a high flying achedemic or business owner who decided he had had enough. Can't remember where I heard that.

They chap in question is very friendly, is there reguarly. The carvings aren't particuarly cheap but they are hand made at the end of the day. a large one takes 3-4 days to make. From memory the smaller carvings are anything from £20 upwards.

I have two bears in my garden from this chap. They are amongst the nicest things I own. He's a skillful young chap.

No idea on cost as my wife bought them.
