Spent most of yesterday pulling the engine out of my 86 with the generous help of a couple of my friends. Chevrolet certainly plumbed in the V8 quite extensively! Apart with some fun with getting the AC compressor off and all the joy of lining up the new (second hand) L98 (I reckon it would be easier to dock an Apollo spacecraft) the new motor is in its new home. Now just to plumb it up and get on ready for the summer!

Gixer - most jealous of your car lift, did you get my MMS with my new spanners? That's nearly as good as a lift isn't it?

See my profile pic for the engine out with my two handy pals!

upload to www.imageshack.us or other similar site...

when you copy the links they give, you may need to alter them a bit to work here.

eg
[pic] http/weblink to the piccy[/pic]

rather than the [img] or bits they normally use.

You have to load them onto a website like CarDomain first then paste the "Properties" with [ pic ] either end (without the spaces)

ie [ pic ]Properties "address" [ /pic ]

Jeeez, the things you guys get up to......I thought I'd had a tough day getting my C5 far enough off the ground to do a basic oil and filter change! And why do they always locate the sump drain so you can't get a socket on it? Anyway, all sorted now and set for the summer. The new Michelin tyres are just so much better than the EMTs. I bought them for improved ride and it is just slightly better but the handling is totally transformed; you can have so much more confidence in the car. Just love this time of year with the whole summer still to come.

Feel the same way,ive spent all day going thru the electrics in the cockpit, all the centre consul out, seats out, carpet up trying to sort out a long standing electrical problem with the drivers seat, put it all back together and Bingo!,it works.
If i could of stayed out all night working on my car i would of done.

Can't agree more... this weekend was fantastic; took the car out early yesterday: bright, dry, roof-off (sacrifice handling, but a decent way to wake up!) and just loved it.

Oh yes - was behind one of those excellent handling Elises on the local A road. Well, my poor, mishandling left hand drive boat managed not only to keep up with him (easily!) but then overtook him and leave him for dust, and he was trying too!!

I then - rather sadly!! - pat the steering wheel for and tell the car she's a good girl

I've done the same in my C3 (without the overtaking bit - I was enjoying the frustration & anger on the drivers face too much ). I thought an Elise would leave an old C3 for dead? Maybe he just couldn't drive it?
Roll on summer with its long, warm, tops off, balmy evenings. Serenely cruising (which is difficult with the exhausts bellowing at the world) in the warm evening air with its interleaving series of smells of honeysuckle, dry pine forests, Rape seed, Lavendar & cow dung as you cruise through the countryside, the occasional tempting smell of beer wafting from quaint, warm & inviting pubs, or the spicy smells of Balti, Tandori & curry coming from Indian restaurants. Then there's the strange, unfathomable smells of "Honest Ali's" Kebab stand as you pass it on the way home. What a finale.... the heady smell of old armpits.

Yes, imagine the shock those to$$ers that listen and believe clarkson get when they get blown by.
I know the feeling, I've done it to 'em too (severally and severely) but being totally honest, it ain't that difficult, is it?
