One heated seat not working

Anyone have any ideas why my passenger heated seat works but the drivers side one doesn't?

I have visibly checked the connectors on the seat itself, and am assuming from the bible that their should be one fuse for both sides, ruling out a blown fuse. Any ideas where else I could check or what route the wiring for these takes so I can use the multimetre?

Not of paramount importance to get working again but very nice to take the chill out of cold evenings going topless!

purely guesswork here.assuming youve no voltage at the connector for the seat thats not working,then is it possible that someones put either a 4 pin or a changeover relay where the correct one is a std five pin?then you would only have one circuit live coming from the fuseboard.just a thought.

If you have voltage at the conector, then the heated elemnet in the seat is blown. This is what happened to mine. The drivers seat gets a lot more use, and as the element gets old it gets brittle, and is more likley to snap. It costs about £20 for a replacement. I replaced both the seat back and seat pan elements at the saame time and with fitting I got change out of £100.

johnny,are the elements protected by anything when installed in the seat or do they just go against the foam and diaphragm on their own.was that price from a dealer?id like to install heated seats in my car,anybody out there done this? cheers,mike v.

Not really, they come in a mat and look like an electric blanket. The seat back connects to the seat base and then the seat base has the lead that connects into the cars wiring loom. On mine they just fitted between the foam layers of the seat.
