I'll be collecting my 50th anniversary 4c at the end of month bounce

Need to choose the registration number and confirm if I want the front number plate attached tomorrow.

So........do I get them to attach it offset as usual or get them to leave it on the passenger seat as its....cough....just fallen off officer wink

It would be a shame to spoil the lines!!

Front plate when fitted at the dealers is on a rather unattractive metal bracket bolted to the bumper so I would avoid that

Running without it Ive not had issues but always fit one if I go abroad

I use a flexible 330x80 Plate ( ref LG13aF ) from https://www.platecreator.com/Design/ViewPlateDesig... click plate shape/ size on the right for options It can be stuck neatly on the front bumber offset as the std plate but doesent overlap the grill & being flexible fits tight to the bumber, The letters go very close to the edge so not so small you might get a tug, I suggest you order a couple as I lost one at xxx mph

Yeah whatever you do don't let the dealer drill your bumper for the mounting plate. Mine just velcro'd the plate in position but that fell off eventually. I run a vinyl stick-on one now but it still looks st, and still risks a fine so I'd be tempted to run without :-)

I have been looking into fitting a stick on vinyl 'plate' on a Giulia directly above the grille or as close to the front of the bonnet as possible. I really just do not like the numbers being offset at all.

Not giving the age of the beast away I do remember this being pretty much the norm with Lotus Cortinas and others in that period and having a poke about on official government web sites and elsewhere I cannot see it being expressly forbidden. With the latest materials and printing methods if the plate ends up laying a bit flat then raising the height of the letters and numbers should give the ability for a good visual either by plod's eyeball or a camera......

I bought one of these and cut down the backing plate to suit the height of a UK plate:

I think this is the way forward, have asked the dealer not to attach the number plate, will order a couple of flexible plates that may/may not have just fallen off.

Thanks all

My delivery isn't expected until late this year or early next year but is there any chance that some of you with non-standard plates could post details of size together with a photo or two of how they look?

I don't run a front plate but will do when I go to Italy next month. I've never been stopped.

My Old 4C with its " holiday" plate as described in my earlier post, as I said letters go close to the edge so should be fine for the UK unless you meet PC Pedantic, worth getting a couple as I lost one in Italy at xxx mph & you really need one for the border control coming back

Mines a stick on one
Ran for a while without but decided it wasn't worth the risk of a tug

I like the smaller plate that Chris Variava offer -

Seems they include a full size plate in the boot.

Can you measure the size of your plate for me, I'm thinking of using one of these myself, its as if it was supposed to have this size of plate, the standard legal size looks like its an after thought.

Very good advice - have just ordered one too. The dealer is fitting a small plate in the grill too (not on the bumper), will keep the other one in the car too.

Is it only in the US that front plates are not required ? Seem to remember seeing front plates in most other countries.
