What camera

It has come to my attention that the quality of the pictures from my camera (Panasonic FZ38) is surpassed by those from my phone (Samsung S6) so I think it's time to upgrade.
What's out there nowadays that has a decent zoom, good low light sensitivity and is portable? I have used DSLRs but a smaller bridge camera proved more useful.
Ideally I would like a viewfinder on it as I'm not a fan of taking pics with the screen on the back and possibly a more compact camera this time but still with the manual options.

ETA... though the zoom is limited. (Great quality photos mind)
