Lexus Servicing

I've an IS300h which is due what will be the second service though it's only done around 12k.

The Lexus website has some prices on it and admittedly I've not emailed any dealers yet but I'd be interested to know if there is much flexibility between what's on the website vs. what you pay.

There don't seem to be a lot of Lexus independents...

I expect prices will be pretty even between dealerships, unless you're willing to travel to John O'Groats and you're based in - say - Surrey.

If you want to keep the costs down, provide your own oil (to manufacturers spec) and suntry parts. Easy profits for dealers on those.

I'd imagine 12k service is just an oil change with new oil/air filters (possible cabin pollen filter too). Nothing any half competent Indie couldn't handle, but given the car is relatively new (in warranty?), the dealer stamp will save hassle come sale of warranty issues.

Nope, prices are fixed, I called around but they said lexus fixed the prices some time back. You'll get 10% discount if you buy the service pack.

The 2nd service is £445.00, I got mine done at Lexus Milton Keynes last week.

I also got the warranty from them, 2 years for £895, not too bad as it includes aa cover for both me and my partner, it's the top end one, Europe cover, home start, rental car etc

In all likelihood you won't need the warranty but given the shared parts and tech have you tried a Toyota dealer?

Can't help on that but I can say that when I needed some parts for my LS400 engine Lexus tried to sell me the wrong parts four times which would have had to be ordered in and wait 3 weeks etc

Fortunately I listened to an experienced forum member and ordered the right part from Parts Souq - based in UAE they sent the genuine part within 3 days and it cost 1/3 of the price !

Toyota dealers quoted the same price as Lexus, I actually agreed as they were much closer than a Lexus dealer only for them to call later and cancel the booking.

Yes, probably won't need the warranty but thought it was a fair price, they are doing a two for one year offer (which they've had for a while), works out at £450 per year, take off two lots of AA and it's down to about £300, it's a complex car so thought it was worth it. One claim and I'll be quids in. If you keep the warranty going you can renew upto 10 years old and 140k miles, I'd rather pay £300 ish per year than the cost of a replacement.

Yes it's 12k mileage but 2 years age, it has 2k on it when I had it.

Apparently Lexus suggest a 12k interval for business mileage so that may buy me another couple of months.

The service schedule is interesting as I'm damned if I can see a fat lot being changed, just a lot of "check" and "inspect" type stuff.
