Recently I reached that fed up point with a current triple A title (Black Ops 3) I refused to get Infinite Warfare and went and got Battlefield 1.

BO3 just got more and more juvenile and the amount of "Godlike" players was making lobby's just plain painful.

So I reached stuff it and loaded up BO2, I was stunned there were still servers and very very busy servers for it. I'm not sure if it was nostalgia but it was FUN!

I found myself having to stop playing it!

This theme continued with reloading Supreme Commander.

Anyone else been turning to dusty old games to get their gaming fix? Just wondered if other gamers were in a similar boat.

Cheers

Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past

Just a very clever and near on perfect game.

I set up a PS3 again recently and tried GTA Vice City to make sure it worked. 3 hours later I was knee deep in drugs and hookers and flying off ramps doing insane stunts... laugh

I only ever play COD. BO2 was the start of the rot for me. I hated that game. I always go back to standard TDM on MW3. It's brilliant for back to basics shoot em up fun. Mind, my "modern" go to game is Ghosts. I love playing that. My son has the PS4 with all the modern COD games but I'm still old school PS3 with the older games.

Ghosts? I didn't get on with it to be fair.

Are MW3 servers still about? I never got into MW3 MP.

Agree with this, GTA Vice City is one of the best games ever imo, just a great soundtrack/characters/storyline, it's all just brilliant. Wish there was a remake with next gen graphics and GTA V driving physics, nothing else needs to be changed just those two and I would be a happy camper!

Another one I play is Burnout Paradise, one of the best open world games out there, wish I could get the DLC to work on steam but I do have the PS3 version somewhere if I really miss the extra's.

COD was the start of the rot for me. Too realistic. I still yearn for the barren simplicity of MOHAA. And I play Command and Conquer Generals from time to time. I'd like to play AoE too, but it's a hassle to set up without a CD drive.

I think it's just me to be honest. I've played all the COD's over the years and Iove Ghosts online but it's widely criticised elsewhere. MW3 servers are still up and very much in use. I have noticed a lot more drop outs/connection losses but it's still playable. A good Resistance, Mission or Dome session is good for the soul. People often rave about MW2 being the pinnacle of the series but I'd argue MW3 was better.

A lot of people like BO2 but I never bothered to prestige. I gave up very quickly and tried to go back to see if I could change my mind but I never warmed to it. I loved the original BO (those servers are actually still going too as I had a blast a month back.) Normally I rate the COD series on how many great maps, good maps and poor maps they have. BO2 didn't seem to have any that I enjoyed playing.

Still fire up Supreme Commander Forged Alliance on a semi-regular basis - still my favourite RTS game.

Rogue Squadron on the GameCube.

Nice and simple game, too many games are over complicating the controls IMO and removing the fun aspect.

I tend to go back for 4 player splitscreen fun.
Megadrive generally - Micro Machines Turbo Tournament, Mega bomberman, WWF RAW.
Simple fast paced fun.

Single player - Heros of might and magic 3 - lost many a day to that over the years.

Yup - got the Doom bundle on Steam for pittance last year and had a whale of a time blasting through it for the first time in about 20 years - still so playable even after all this time. Same applies to the original Deus Ex IMO.

I tend to hang on to older games; I still have ~12 xbox360 games which I'll play occasionally - GOW 1-3, LA Noire, HL2, L4D etc. Just bought Battlefield Bad Company 2 to replay and it's so much fun! Graphics hold up well on a 4k TV too.

The original FarCry.

Because graphically it's quite nice, runs very well on most modern hardware, and has a nice mix of fps game segments in an almost open world.
