2006 S4 Cab roof not working

Hi all,

Request for a friend not on PH.

He has a 2006 S4 cab and the roof is not working properly on closure. It gets about half way, but then stops - with the hood not lifting in time for the 'boot' section to close, forcing a manual override each time (which is fussy to say the least). He's reluctant to take it in due to cost, so I thought I'd try the online experts... Any help welcome.

Might be as simple as needing a re-code of base settings (sometimes occurs after flat/new battery).

Can be a microswitch failed and the roof not knowing where it is.

Either way it really needs a proper diagnosis to avoid simply throwing money at it.
