Article says "She was able to escape the vehicle, call 911..."

Impressed you can get a 911 as an immediate replacement.

Well bugger me sideways. That's pretty shocking.

Has anyone heard anything about a UK recall to sort this? I haven't ...

Hernandez said the dealer of her vehicle offered to loan her a 2017 Porsche Macan GTS, but then pulled it after it was determined that particular model also carried a recall campaign for a potential fire hazard.

Well lets just hope its only in the US.
Its interesting reading the USA web sites for Porsche.....
I have American cousins who tell me that the USA will not put up with problems that Porsche refuse to repair, that over here we have to put up with it in lots of cases.
We are reliant on the OPCs to sort things out and hopefully get a result?
The yanks just take them to court, and then Porsche pay......

What a shame we don't do that here a little more often.
But then, there are a lot of people in the US that are prepared to do something about it.

From the receiving end of some litigation on both sides of the pond (some of it fair, some of it not), the UK system has its benefits. We at least get a fair hearing in court if we have to take it that far. Plenty of people of people in the UK are prepared to take it as far as it can go, even if it was clearly their fault in the first place. For some reason (might be financial, if not, I'd love to know what it is) there are more than a few legal firms very willing to support those claims. So far UK has seemed reasonable in my experience, Ireland less so I am sad to say.

The only people that seem to gain from all this are lawyers. Let's see if we can figure out why...

A car caught fire for reasons not yet explained. I think that may be the whole story so far, but Porsche seem to be taking all responsibility as far as media are concerned. If it was my brand, I'd want to know a few more of the facts before I took it on the chin.

I've read that the "fuel collection screws" are the guilty party and these are being replaced - see http://www.porsche.com/usa/aboutporsche/pressrelea...

That press release is dated 27th January 2017. I presume affected 718 owners in UK would have been contacted by now.

Recall has been issued and UK cars are largely completed - you can check your car's recall requirements here:

Maybe Porsche should fit the fire extinguisher as standard rather than an option in future.
