Young girl in office just got a letter asking for ID of driver as caught doing 41 in a 30 limit. got 3 points over 2 years ago.
Admits she was driving - no winging just wants to know what's the likely outcome - panicking about having to go to court and new fine system related to wages.

Yep. 41 is within the speed awareness course threshold, it will be offered if the driver hasn't been on one in the last 3 years, it's 90 quid (£10 cheaper than the fine), it's quite good fun, and you don't get any points. Win, win.ks. If she's not done a Speed Awareness Course in the past three years, then she might get offered one, if not she'll get a Fixed Penalty of 3 points and a £100 fine.

Don't believe ever misreported load of old tosh you read in the press.An alleged 41mph in a 30mph limit remains within the range for either a Speed Awareness Course or fixed penalty (3 points & £100).

If you’ve not done a course in the last three years you should be offered one. If not it’s a £100 fine and three points.
Band B fine is only if you go to court. Which with a clean licence won’t happen unless you decide to contest it.
I've been caught 81mph in a 70 which is fair enough, I knew the risks and I took it.
0 points clean license , but I haven't been offered a speed awareness course? I thought 81 would be within the tolerance for the offer.

A court hearing for what? Are you planning to plead not guilty?It maybe worth asking why you have not been offered a course and see what happens, other than that just pay the FP 0 points clean license , but I haven't been offered a speed awareness course? 1 - Did the offence happen in England or Wales?
2 - How long ago did it happen?
3 - Are you the registered keeper of the car (ie it isn't on finance, a company car, etc.)?
4 - If so, how long have you had it?
5 - What exactly have you received?
Reasons for the questions
1 - Courses are only offered for offences in England or Wales, not Scotland or Northern Ireland.
2, 3 and 4 - Courses have to be taken within about 4 months of the offence (so that if you don't turn up they have time to take court prroceedings against you). There are several good reasons why it might take a few months before you are notified of the offence, one of which is with company cars. The registered keeper will generally be a finance company so they receive the request for drivers' details within 14 days. They take 28 days to reply to say that it is your employer that is the driver. It takes another week or so for your employer to reveice their request for drivers' details. They take 28 days to reply saying that you were the driver. It takes a further week for you to receive your request for drivers' details and you take 28 days to reply. That's pretty much 4 months gone so it's too late for a course.
5 - If this is the first thing that you have received it will be a request for drivers' details which you need to complete and say that it was you. At the moment, all that the police know is that what appears to be your car was doing 81 in a 70 at a particular place at a particular time. They don't know who was driving. Until you confirm who was driving they don't know who to offer any penalty to. Although you know that it was you that was driving and accept that you were speeding nothing can be offered to anyone until the police know this so although your speed should be eligible for a course they don't know who to offer it to. Once you reply to the first letter they should offer you a course (subject to it being in England or Wales and in time) or a fixed penalty (£100 and 3 points).
