Advice required on accident claimant please!
Discussion
Back in November I was involved in a collision on a roundabout.
Insurers agreed 50/50 and that was that.
Today I received a letter from a county court instructing me to pay £2,500 by x time or issue counter claim etc.
This was sent on the 7th June. I have been away so only got today.
This type of law is all new to me. I am guessing he has filed a claim using the county court and based the amount on repairs and loss of excess.
The claim details the accident and circumstances surrounding it and asks for response etc.
Not sure what to do here. Appoint my own solicitor to fight it, go to court? It's not entirely clear, most of it seems to focus on the payment and my personal circumstances.
Can anyone advice on my next steps, or recommend someone who can pick this up for me on a paid basis.
Strange situation, the wording apportions blame without any balance but I am guessing he has just issued a private claim though small claims and waiting for response.
I'm not one to roll over and happy to pay someone to sort it, I'm just unclear in first instance how to proceed to buy time etc.
Thanks!!!'

I had the same, Chap steamed into the side of me. Insurers deemed it my fault as I had been reversing before he hit me (was already moving forwards when he emerged from a drive and nailed it). Everything was passed to both insurers to deal with, around 4 weeks later I got a solicitors letter stating I owed Mr x £8000 odd plus fees. Forwarded the letter on to my insurers and the sorted it instantly.

Did your insurers send an "Arkell v. Pressdram (1971)" letter?

I have no idea, I know they were very angry that I was sent any letters or demands for monies from the other side. They said anything should have gone directly to them. They settled everything immediately and without fuss.
