Oh joy!, my S1 elise is now tucked up in the garage for the night. Excellent weekend of top down elise fun.

Have only had the car two days but it has been very interesting, listing points.

Good:

Feels like your always on a rolling start race at Buckmore Park.
Top down, night time, back road driving is awesome.
Very few road cars will go round a tight corner faster.
Good comments from pedestrians.
Exhaust (non standard) sounds awesome.
Hit a 4-5k sweet spot in 2/3 or 4th and this mere 118bhp little car really takes off.

Bad:

Getting in (and especially out) with roof on.
In two days I have come to hate drains and badly kept roads.
Had creaky clutch, fixed with some silicon lubricant (since found DIY upgrade path I will follow).
Motorway driving.
Noisey with roof on (only bothers on long distance).

Awesome little car, looks great on the drive. Plenty of punch for those who love the 5k+ area of driving. Coming from an S2000 it really is a completely different beast. Keeping the S2000 above 6.5k (useful end) is the challenge with the car that really requires effort. Elise is much more balanced at 60mph+ on twisties and although the sheer lowness of the elise is what makes it so stable I can understand it being a love it or hate it thing.

Of course my better half thought the car was ugly and not practical enough, a pointless purchase. Then I told her I was going for a very long top down journey for a pint of milk. She had her coat on before I left the sofa, says it all me-thinks.

Love the drive, in fact I may check to see if I have enough bread for the week. Now where are my keys?...

Nice one mate - glad you're enjoying it. I drove home from SW London early evening tonight, roof off, decided to get off the M25 and head home x-country.

Light fading, 'zorst and induction roaring in the evening spring air as I chucked it down some of our great twisty Kent/Surry/Sussex A & B roads.

Where in SE are you? Are you a SELOC'r?

West Thurrock is my local drive.

Am not sure of SELOC but assume it is some kind of SE membership for Lotus owners. As my typing would suggest, I am not a member (yet).

My exhaust is a Brooke s/s one, no idea how this compares from stock or what a zorst can provide to my ears. Happy at the moment just knowing that the car is all I expected.

SELOC is very much national with a growing European and worldwide membership, over 8,000 members registered.

I see, apologies for the SE assumption.

storm - see http://forums.seloc.org/ for more info.

I'm just getting involved in the Kent group who seem a nice bunch. Monthly meets, lots of plans for summer runs etc.

Not much to join (£28), great forums and you get lots of discounts as a fully paid up member. Worth a look!
