Hi the oil pressure is going straight up to 100 psi and blowing the oil filter seal I've just put the engine back in after a 12000 mile service but also I've just had the oil pump and water pump refurbed and changed all the oil hose from half inch to 5/8 suspect the pressure relief spring but would like your thoughts🤔
Well I clean my garage floor😣

I can't imagine that could be anything other than the pressure relief spring.

Perhaps it's been fitted incorrectly.

Take it out and swap it for a new one.

Good luck.

Is it me or does the plunger look a little rusty

This is the only photo I have, and it does suggest you have every reason to be concerned

I believe you can get the plunger out with a magnet my main concern is I've just had the pump stripped and rebuilt with bearings and new seals and pressure tested for five hours by a TVR specialist

The rust suggests it has not opened ever or for a very long time! It should be clean, shiny and oily, I think you found the problem there.

Like I said before the pump has just come back from less than two months ago from having a new seals and bearings fitted cause it had a small water leak they told me they couldn't give a price until they stripped it and inspected all the parts this is supposed to be a TVR specialist if it turns out they have refitted a rusted pressure valve and supposedly tested it for 5 hours at 25 PSI I will name and shame

at 25 PSI it will never have opened to be "tested"

Managed to get the plunger out at closer inspection it's only a little surface rust nothing to write home about going to try putting another copper washer behind the bolt to relieve the pressure a picture of the plunger for people that have never seen one

I think the plunger might have been fitted the wrong way round

The pressure test would've been on the water pump, not the oil pump.
There shouldn't have been any rust at all on the relief plunger.

Looks to me as if the unit was cleaned and degreased and residual water has caused the surface rust. The spring goes onto the side of the plunger that has the raised part. I would replace the plunger though as the rough surface will score the bore in the pump.

Are you sure that you didn't wedge something in the fitting between the engine and the short pipe out of the filter to stop oil leaking out that could be causing a blockage?

Thanks racing green I think you're right about the rust it wiped off with a piece of wire wool
Definitely fitted in the wrong way can't say I'm very happy since it was rebuilt by a TVR specialist but I guess they're only human luckily the only damage is an oil filter 6 li of premium oil on the garage floor will phone them later like my old boss used to say we all make mistakes it's how you put that mistake right that counts

Agree on the plunger orientation, but perhaps a novice apprentice may have thought the centre was hollow for the spring and the 'tit' on the end was part of the valve seat...?
And yes, I hope it had been cleaned ...but the oil pump and relief valve parts should have been reassembled with oil...

Spoke to the guys at the TVR specialist
Looks like it was just a genuine mistake what looks like apart from a blown oil filter and messy garage floor we got away with and they have offered to make a (small contribution )for the lost of engine oil
