I'm thinking of getting the wife a 570 spyder for her birthday next year and was just wondering what the service costs are like? And can they be used as an every other day car? And before any smart arse says "if you can't afford to run it then you can't afford it" I can afford it! I just don't like being taken for a mug by car service cost! Thanks chaps

It only needs an oil change every two years, so best advice is to call your nearest dealer and ask what they charge.

Service every 10k miles or 1 year IIRC, not sure about 2 years - I wouldn't wait that long on a Golf never mind a McLaren.

I was told the first service on the sports series is around £500. Prices seem to vary dealer by dealer. Second service just over £1,000 IIRC but I'm not sure anyone has had one yet.

Basically a lot cheaper than the 12C/650 era models.

Service is yearly or you will invalidate your warranty, not sure why someone said 2 years! However i know of cars that have skipped services when they have done very low mileages in collections and after a McCheck have been qualified with no issues. 570 first services have been coming in quite reasonable at around £400-£500. That compares to 650s second/third services of around £1,000. After 4 years the 12C has settled at £1,500 ish a year. It is clear the sports series is a lot cheaper than the super series.

That ties in exactly with the service cost for my 12c. Just had the third year service done at 22k km and was about 1200 pounds.

Quick, get in and ask what sort of MPG to expect, while you are under the radar.

I am imagining you'll be writing the service intervals and approximate costs in the birthday card.

I hope your wife is overjoyed with the very generous gift. My congratulations to you both.
